LOG IN SIGN UP
Documentation

To complete the quick start signup and configuration process, you'll want to have these things ready in advance:

Open https://www.fastly.com/signup to create a free account or click any Try Fastly now button on the Fastly.com website.

Fill in the entire signup form (be sure to read the Terms of Service), then check the email account you signed up. We'll send you an account activation link to verify your email. Once you click the activation link, we'll activate your account so you can begin the initial configuration process.

See our setup guide for the complete signup process.

Once you've activated your account, set up your initial service by submitting:

  • a name for the service (anything meaningful will work)
  • the server IP address (or hostname) and port number for the origin to the new service
  • the domain name of the end-user-facing domain for the new service

You can only create a single service during the initial configuration. If you have many services or servers you want to create, you'll be able to add these later. You'll also be able to rename your service or change the initial configuration info at any time once these steps are complete.

See our setup guide for specifics about each of the configuration settings.

Once we have the initial configuration information, Fastly provisions your service. We display a test link you can use to test your service configuration. When you click on it, you should see your application or website appear normally.

If an "Unknown Domain" error appears, wait a bit and try again. The provisioning process takes a few seconds, but may take up to a minute. If the link does not work, please contact us at support@fastly.com. If you're using Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage, Heroku, or other cloud services as an origin, take a look at our integrations section for more detailed guides.

See our debugging guides for more details about other common connection problems.

Once you've tested the configuration connections, make sure your objects being served through Fastly are caching (HITing) or not caching (MISSing) as intended. You can test and confirm your configurations with the steps outlined in our debugging guide.

While logged into the Fastly application, click the config tab and then click the blue Configure button in the top middle of the screen. Click the New button on the right of a logging provider's name. The new logging window for that specific provider will appear. Each provider does things a little differently.

See our remote log streaming setup guide for the complete setup process and a list of supported providers.

To start using Fastly after you create your first service, you must create a CNAME DNS record for your domain name. This CNAME record directs your traffic to Fastly's network. See our setup guide for a complete list of hostnames and instructions for adding the CNAME record.

Once you've completed these steps, you should be serving your first Fastly-powered application. For further performance tuning, check out the rest of the Fastly documentation. If you are having any problems, feel free to contact us at support@fastly.com.
