On May 31, 2022, a third-party provider of one of Fastly's geolocation databases will be deprecating support of their legacy geolocation information. Fastly will no longer support the associated [`geoip.*` VCL variables](https://www.fastly.com/documentation/reference/vcl/variables/geolocation/) as of May 27, 2022 and will begin requiring all affected Fastly customers to replace the legacy geolocation VCL variables promptly.

Fastly provides [`client.geo.*` variables](https://www.fastly.com/documentation/reference/vcl/variables/geolocation/) with comparable functionality that rely on another database that will remain available to all Fastly customers. A list of the affected variables and their supported alternatives can be found on our [Developer Hub](https://www.fastly.com/documentation/reference/vcl/variables/geolocation/). Current customers should ensure they are using the alternative geolocation VCL variables detailed on the Developer Hub.
