On November 8, 2019 [we announced](https://docs.fastly.com/changes/significant/2019/11/08/special) our intention to [retire](https://docs.fastly.com/products/fastly-product-lifecycle#product-or-feature-retirement) the Round-robin director. All customers who were using the Round-robin director have ceased using it. We are retiring the Round-robin director effective immediately. Our existing [Random director](https://www.fastly.com/documentation/reference/vcl/declarations/director/), with its associated [API](https://www.fastly.com/documentation/reference/api/load-balancing/directors/director/), offers similar functionality to the retired Round-robin director policy.
